Lost Flamingo launches spring season with "Short Stack"
May 1, 2008
This Friday and Saturday, the Lost Flamingo Company will present Short Stack, a compilation of eight short student-written plays.
The shows start at 8 p.m. in Mitchell Auditorium in OU’s Siegfred Hall.
This is the fourth year of Short Stack, which has since its inception produced more than 30 short plays by students from all majors, from playwriting to music.
“It’s a lot of different kinds of theater all in one night, at the same time,” senior education major Doug Devor, one of the executive members of LFC and author of several works in the show, said in a news release.
Other writers include Alina Buccella, Gina Beach, Drew Crabtree and Molly Hagan.
Short Stack this year falls during Mom’s Weekend.
“It’s exciting for me personally because my mom has never seen an LFC show in the four years I have been here,” said senior journalism major Catie Coleman, a director of one of the pieces, in the release. “Plus, it’s something about Ohio University that she can come to see and really be proud of.”
Lost Flamingo Company is also performing the noir-inspired drama “Earth and Sky” on May 16 and 17 in the Baker Center Theatre, the Tony-award-winning drama “Proof” in Mitchell Auditorium May 23 and 24, and the company’s annual musical at ARTS/West, “Bat Boy: The Musical” on May 30 and 31 and June 6 and 7.
