‘Tree Hill’ singer on tap at OU

May 29, 2008

Kate Voegele from “One Tree Hill” will perform this Saturday at 8 p.m. in the Baker Center Theatre.

Doors open at 7:30 p.m. for the show, which also will feature Mike Genovese and Princes of Hollywood.  Admission is free.

“Baker University Center is excited to bring an Ohio native to campus,” said Chad Barnhardt, Baker University Center assistant director, in a news release. “Voegele is a talented musician whose skills range from singer-songwriter to guitarist and pianist. This is a great opportunity for students to enjoy a live show in a comfortable atmosphere.”

From Bay Village near Cleveland, Voegele attended Miami University as an art education major. She left after the spring of 2007 in order to focus on her music career.  Recently, Voegele began to appear as a recurring guest in the CW television series “One Tree Hill,” playing the character Mia in a rock band with Jason (Kevin Federline).

In 2006, she signed a record deal with MySpace Records and released her debut album, “Don’t Look Away,” in May 2007. Voegele’s song “I Won’t Disagree” was a winner of the New York City Songwriters Circle in 2006. Her song “Only Fooling Myself” also won praise at the 2006 USA Songwriting Competition at Borders Books & Music in Austin, Texas.

Tickets are available at the Baker Fourth Floor Guest Services desk. Tickets are free and serve as a priority admission pass to the event; however, seating/standing room is not guaranteed, according to the news release. Tickets will be honored until 8:15 p.m. the day of show.

Students can pick up one ticket per OU student ID presented.
