Beacon School gets grant from Goody's

May 12, 2008

Beacon School has been awarded a $10,000 grant from the Goody’s Family Clothing Good Deeds for Schools program for new playground equipment.

Through the Good Deeds for Schools grant program, Goody’s will award $500,000 in grants to K-12 schools in Goody’s communities to help pay for items the schools need but cannot afford through regular educational funding, such as playground updates, new computer technology, and arts programs, according to a press release.

Beacon School will use its grant to replace existing playground equipment with a new adaptive playground for special-needs children.

The grant program is funded in part by proceeds from the sale of Ashley Judd’s clothing line at Goody’s.

Grant applications went through two rounds of judging.
